What are Open Streets?

Open Streets are programs that allows communities to transform streets into new public spaces by temporary closing them to cars.
On January 28, 2021, Mayor de Blasio announced that the NYC DOT Open Streets program will become a permanent fixture in NYC. The Open Street on W 103rd will be active throughout the upcoming year.
W 103 Street Open Street Community Coalition was recently formed to help maintain the Open Street between Riverside Drive and Broadway.
